Common issues
- No telemetry: Same Wi-Fi as PS5 (not guest/AP isolation). Find PS5 or enter the console IP. Only one heartbeat client at a time. Needs GT7 1.68+.
- Wrong IP: Use the PS5 network settings IP on the same subnet, or let Find PS5 scan this Wi-Fi.
- Voice silent: Check mute / audio-only and Connect → Voice. Training vocals speak only while Training is on and a target lap is saved for this circuit. Pace coaching is off by default (opt-in; tips compare only to this stint’s best flying lap). Android needs a TTS language pack; iPhone uses system speech. Pause hard-mutes; cool-down replay should still allow the chequered / finish line.
- Training didn’t save a lap: Capture records one flying lap from the car on the PS5, from start/finish to start/finish. A lap with no real brake or gear changes is rejected. One saved lap per circuit; a new capture replaces it and stays on the device. Load that same ghost in GT7, then tap Train Against the Best Recorded Lap.
- No DR/SR after the race: Expected unless the stint matched a Sport Mode Daily (Race A/B/C) with other cars. Needs a saved Online ID and Post-race rating enabled.
- iPhone Local Network: Allow Welch Race Companion when prompted, or Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
- Username / profile lookup fails: Public Online ID only — no password. Lookup uses an unofficial GT-GridStats proxy and can be temporarily unavailable; the app should fail soft. Check spelling (3–16 letters, numbers,
_/-) and network. Sport Mode and official gran-turismo.com leaderboards still work without a successful lookup. - Sport week looks stale: Community daily-race archives can lag the live in-game week. Weekly challenges only appear when a live feed has them.
- Garage / Tracks offline: Car, track, and maker catalogs are bundled on the device — no PS5 or internet required for search.
- Track map blank / still learning: Most circuits lock from a bundled outline on the racing line, or from a denser map saved on the phone / shipped with the app. Unknown layouts need one clean flying lap after S/F. Pace ribbon and vs best need a best lap in this stint. Pace coaching waits for that first timed flying lap.
- Relief greyed out: On Tracks detail, Relief needs measurable elevation. Flat layouts stay on Layout. The race HUD stays a flat pace map.
Trial
Full app for 3 days, then a one-time unlock ($9.99 USD, store-localized). After trial, letter + DR points stay free and one free Sim preview remains. Nothing charges until you tap Unlock. Family Sharing when the store enables it.
Not supported
Tire wear estimates (not in GT7 telemetry). PSN password / OAuth login. Official Polyphony Digital support channels are separate from Welch Software.
